The Met Office has issued a 12-hour weather warning for Devon for ice as freezing temperatures are set to bite the region. The warning comes into force from 3pm on Monday and lasts until 3am on Tuesday morning.
The warning says: “Ice and small amounts of snow could lead to slippery surfaces in a few places. You could expect perhaps some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths and some injuries from slips and falls on icy or snowy surfaces.”
Forecasters say that temperatures will drop down as low as -4 in parts of the region tonight, the Met Office says they won’t rise above zero until 3pm on Wednesday.
It comes as the whole of the South West has been issued with an Amber cold health alert. The alert, issued by the Met Office and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), is in place until 12pm on Friday (January 12) – and is an upgrade on the Yellow cold health alert issued at the end of last week.
