Air Ambulance week lighting up Devon

Devon Air Ambulance is calling for the people of Devon to join them and the nation in celebrating Air Ambulance Week from 4 – 10 September 2023.

Air Ambulance Week serves as a reminder of the crucial role that air ambulances play in saving lives and providing rapid specialist medical assistance to those in need.

The DAA fleet of emergency vehicles includes two air ambulance helicopters and two rapid response, blue light critical care cars, ready to respond whenever and wherever needed across Devon and neighbouring counties.

The speed with which DAA’s highly-skilled crew can reach a patient, identify their time-critical needs and provide their specialist lifesaving treatments and interventions to slow, halt or even reverse the effects of a life-threatening condition, is crucial in helping to achieve a successful outcome.

Throughout Air Ambulance Week, DAA will be running an online campaign to engage the community to support and raise funds to ensure their crew are always there to respond.

A display of support

To show their appreciation for our air ambulance service in Devon, venues across the county are lighting up in red and blue at 7pm on Thursday 7 September in recognition of the charity’s work. Locations include Exeter Guildhall and the Albert Clock in Barnstaple. If you are able to light up a building or monument to show your support for DAA please contact Peggie Clark at p.clark@daat.org to tell us about it.

In addition, Vapormatic will be undertaking a skydive in support of DAA, at Dunkeswell airfield on Saturday 2nd September, and the DAA fundraising team will be out and about across the county at the Kingsbridge Show, Torbay Pride, Dawlish Bike and Trike, Saltram Classic Car Show, Uffculme Show, Lydford Village Fete and Tedburn St Mary Village Fete.

Charlotte Leventis, Head of Communications & Marketing at Devon Air Ambulance, expressed gratitude to the community for their continued support, saying:

Air Ambulance Week is a time to celebrate the incredible work of our dedicated and highly skilled crew and of course, the kind generosity of our supporters. We are immensely grateful for the ongoing support we receive, which enables us to provide time-critical care to those in need. Together, we can make a difference and save lives.

Devon Air Ambulance relies on the generous support and donations of the people of Devon, the funds raised during Air Ambulance Week will directly contribute to the charity's critical service and improving patient outcomes across Devon.

AAUK is focused on providing vital national funding support, raising awareness, enabling advancements in patient care, advocating on key issues and policy, as well as being the central hub for the exchange of information and knowledge across the air ambulance sector.

By participating in Air Ambulance Week and supporting Devon Air Ambulance, individuals and businesses can directly contribute to the ongoing provision of emergency medical care in the region. Every donation made will ensure the continued operation and development of the charity.
