Four former Royal Marines to take on 1,664-mile motorcycle ride to raise awareness of suicide prevention

Four former Royal Marines will leave CTCRM during the afternoon of ‘Families Day’ on 14th September and embark on a 1,664-mile motorcycle ride to every Royal Marines unit in Britain, in seven days.

Around 50 members of the Royal Marines Association Motorcycle Branch (AKA ‘Bootnecks and Bikes’) will accompany them to their first stop in Plymouth.

The ‘Brotherhood Ride’ is raising awareness of RMA-The Royal Marines Charity’s suicide prevention campaign, ‘Lifting the Lid’

This year has seen a tragic rise in the number of former or serving Royal Marines taking their own lives; 2024 also saw a rise in the number of suicides within the Corps.

Former Royal Marines Aldo Kane – TV adventurer and lead of Amazon Prime’s 2025 The Wild Onesdocumentary series – and Paul White will take it in turns to ride a a custom Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 motorcycle to every Royal Marines unit, clocking up 1,664 miles, representing the founding year of the Royal Marines. They will be supported by former Royal Marines Al Chambers MBE and Billy Perhan who will ride in a support vehicle.

The bike was originally donated, auctioned off, and then donated back to the charity. It will be auctioned again, along with a helmet signed by each unit’s Commanding Officer, at the next charity dinner on Friday 14 November.

The fundraising target including the re-auction of the motorbike is £80,000.
