Great Western Railway has warned customers about a scam attempting to trick them into giving over their personal details.

GWR warns of a scam involving fake accounts on X (formerly Twitter) pretending to be GWR managers. These accounts seek personal details from customers. GWR advises sharing information only via direct messages with its official account, not with imposters.

GWR said accounts had been created on X, formerly Twitter, falsely claiming to belong to GWR managers.

It said the people running the accounts contacted GWR customers requesting personal information from them.

The firm reminded customers not to provide personal details to anyone except GWR's official account.

It said GWR staff only asked for information via direct messages on the site.
