Stay safe this Bonfire Night

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue have published some helpful advice on how to enjoy bonfire night safely; including what you shouldn’t burn and when you can have a bonfire.

They also have good advice for using fireworks safely.

If you’re having a bonfire, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue would like you to tell them when it’ll be happening, so they can check with you if they receive any 999 calls reporting fire in the same area.

Did you know that it’s against the law to carry fireworks in public if you’re under 18?

Letting fireworks off during night hours (11pm to 7am) is also usually against the law except for some occasions, such as Bonfire Night, when you can set them off until midnight. Diwali, New Year, and Chinese New Year are also exceptions.

Visit Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue’s webpage for more information about bonfire and fireworks safety.
