Appeal for witnesses following A379 incident, Exeter

A woman has died following an incident in Exeter which happened on Saturday 1 February.

A woman has died following an incident in Exeter which happened on Saturday 1 February.

Police were notified at around 12.45am to reports that a woman had fallen from a bridge near the A379, Exeter.

Further reports were received that the woman had then been hit by an oncoming vehicle.

As a result of the incident, a woman in her 20s was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services worked in the area.

A 45-year-old man from Exmouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
