A man was punched in the face and pushed to the ground by another man in an unprovoked attack outside Coolings in Gandy Street.
The victim, in his 30s from Exeter, suffered a serious head injury which required hospital treatment.
Police investigating the 27 April incident would like to identify the man pictured as they believe he may be able to assist with their enquiries.
Anyone who recognises him or has any information which may assist with the investigation is asked to come forward.
