Children will share vision to protect the ocean at event in Exeter

We Are The Ocean takes place in Princesshay Square on Tuesday 25th June from 4pm to 6pm. The project weaves together the fears hopes and dreams of 400 children from the UK and United Arab Emirates who connected across the ocean to take action for the ocean.

An event to celebrate and protect the ocean through children’s poetry and art will be held in Exeter city centre later this month.

We Are The Ocean takes place in Princesshay Square on Tuesday 25 June from 4pm to 6pm.

The project weaves together the fears, hopes and dreams of 400 children from the UK and United Arab Emirates who connected across the ocean through science, stories and art to take action for the ocean.

It takes the voices of young people who have a vision for the future for our planet.

Their messages were delivered to world leaders at COP28 Climate Change Conference in Dubai in December 2023.

The event in Princesshay will feature:

  • Live music performances by British Institution for Modern Music artists
  • Children’s poetry performances in English and Arabic
  • The opportunity to co-create a new Ocean Poem for Exeter
  • The award-winning Sounds of the Ocean film
  • Creative activities including origami and pom pom making
