East Devon District Council is asking local people, community groups and businesses to help choose a name for a new community planned near Westpoint, in the west of the district.
The consultation, launched this week, gives you the chance to look at four possible names and rank them in order of preference. Each option comes with a short explanation of how it was chosen, based on local history, the area’s geography and environment, and previous public feedback.
This is the next step following earlier engagement on the proposed layout and location of the new community. Choosing a name now will help give the place a clear identity and shape the look and feel of the area as it grows. The results of the consultation will help decide the final name and will also guide future work on how the new community is promoted and developed.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the identity of a new community in East Devon. The name we choose will reflect its roots in the local landscape and its aspirations for the future. We’re encouraging everyone with a connection to East Devon to have their say— be part of creating a lasting legacy from day one.
