DeFRA has confirmed a positive case of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) in a dead gull collected at Seaton Wetlands.

The Countryside team do not need to close the site, but are asking visitors to follow Defra’s guidelines on avian flu outbreaks.

DeFRA has confirmed a positive case of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) in a dead gull collected at Seaton Wetlands.

The Countryside team do not need to close the site, but are asking visitors to follow Defra’s guidelines on avian flu outbreaks:

1. Not feed any birds on site.

2. Stick to paths and boardwalks.

3. Do not to pick up or handle dead or sick birds.

4. Members of the public are asked to report any dead birds seen close to a public area or on a footpath here: https://eastdevon.gov.uk/.../dead.../report-dead-animals/

5. If you keep birds or poultry wash your hands and boots after visiting the wetlands before interacting with them.

The Countryside team will be working closely with DeFRA and the Environmental Health team to monitor the situation.
