Exmouth flood gates to be closed

Exmouth's seafront flood gates, as well as Mamhead Slipway, will be closed by East Devon District Council and volunteer residents, following advice from the Environment Agency.

Category A gates will be closed from 1:30pm on Monday, 8 April. Category B gates will be closed before 8am on Tuesday, 9 April.

The reason is that the Environment Agency are predicting a 2.78m tide with a 500mm river flood surge and a 4m tidal surge. The river and tidal surge are due to occur at the same time as the high tide.
