Exmouth RNLI volunteers rescue more sea swimmers in second incident in 24 hours.

At 19.41 yesterday evening the Exmouth ILB, George Bearman II, and three volunteer crew were conducting a training exercise off Exmouth beach when they were flagged down by a group of sea swimmers who highlighted two of their group struggling against the tide and being taken out to sea.

The ILB volunteers quickly travelled the short distance to the two swimmers, pulled them into the safety of the ILB and returned them to shore.

They were luckily unharmed, but anyone seeking to swim in our local waters should be equipped with full information on the state and nature of the local tide and ensure they only swim in conditions that suit their specific abilities.

With the recent strong tides, the swimming conditions in Exmouth have been particularly challenging. With four swimmers rescued by Exmouth RNLI in the last 24 hours we once again stress the risks that could be experienced from sea swimming and the value of understanding local conditions before entering the water.
