Rob Twigg of Exmouth has been crowned World Champion at the World Bowhunter Championship in South Africa, triumphing after a demanding week of big game-style courses and intense multi-arrow rounds against top international archers.
Rob Twigg of Exmouth has officially claimed the title of World Champion at the prestigious World Bowhunter Championship (WBHC), held this past week in South Africa.
After a grueling week of high-level competition featuring big game-style courses and intense multi-arrow rounds, Twigg emerged victorious, topping the leaderboard in a field of elite international archers. The challenging course format included two big game-style rounds, a demanding two-arrow round, and a precision-testing one-arrow round.
“It’s been an amazing experience,” said Twigg at the WBHC awards ceremony. “The courses were seriously tough, but the atmosphere and camaraderie made it unforgettable.”
Twigg also credited his success to the support network behind him. “Huge thanks to the archers I shot with—you made the week so much fun. Thanks to the organisers and the IFAA for a brilliant competition. And a special thanks to Oli Skuse, our team captain, and the whole England Team—your support has been incredible,” he added.
He also acknowledged the backing from Merlin Archery and his wife Sophie Twigg, saying, “I’d be totally lost without you.”
Twigg now sets his sights on the European Bowhunter Championships (EBHC) in Hungary next year, carrying the pride of Exmouth and Team England on his shoulders.
