Detectives investigating a serious assault in Exwick on 12 June are continuing to appeal for witnesses to report information.
Following enquiries made during the investigation, we believe that there may have been further people in the area who we have not yet been able to speak to and may have information which could assist us.
Officers were called by ambulance at 5.50pm after the man was located with life-threatening injuries near the River Exe off Station Road.
A man is his 20s had sustained a number of puncture wounds and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
He was later transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth where he remains in a serious condition.
A man in his 20s from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains on police bail while the investigation is ongoing.
Following the incident, we issued an appeal for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on 12 June to contact us.
While we did receive helpful public response, we do believe that there were other people in the area who have not yet got in touch and we would encourage them to do so.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police online or by telephone on 101, quoting log number 714 of 12 June.
Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling freephone 0800 555111.
