Residents, businesses, and visitors are being invited by East Devon District Council (EDDC) to share their views on the final draft of the Exmouth Placemaking Plan (EPP) a key document that will help shape the town’s future.
The final draft reflects evidence and extensive feedback from earlier public consultations, as well as from council officers, councillors and partner organisations. It brings together a shared vision for Exmouth’s town centre and seafront, identifying key projects that aim to enhance how the town looks, feels, and functions for everyone who lives, works, and visits here.
The consultation gives people the opportunity to say whether they agree or disagree with the proposed projects and provide comments. Feedback will help refine the final version of the plan, which once adopted, will guide next steps in revitalising Exmouth’s town centre and seafront capitalising on opportunities, addressing challenges, and setting out strategies to deliver a vibrant, sustainable future for the town.
This latest version follows detailed review and engagement activity undertaken by WSP on behalf of EDDC, working closely with officers, members, and representatives from Exmouth Town Council and Devon County Council. A series of workshops were held earlier this year to refine the draft. These workshops reviewed the full list of proposed projects, considering community feedback and practical factors such as land ownership and deliverability.
The emerging top three priorities were (in no particular order):
• Station Gateway
• Signage Strategy
• Enhanced active travel measures
The consultation is open until 11am on Tuesday 16 December 2025.
You can view the full draft plan and share your feedback via the Exmouth Placemaking Plan Commonplace consultation website:
