People are being asked to ensure they are ready to vote in the local elections in May
Elections for Devon County Council will be held throughout Exeter on Thursday 1 May.
There will also be by-elections for two City Council wards on the same day, in Mincinglake & Whipton and Topsham.
People will need to ensure that they are on the electoral register to be able to vote. Those who are currently not on the register can apply now and have until midnight on Friday 11 April to do so.
It’s really simple to register on the government website at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Those who are unsure if they are already on the register can contact the City Council directly at electoral.services@exeter.gov.uk or by calling 01392 265141.
People can also decide to have a postal vote instead of going to a polling station. To do this visit the Electoral Commission website at https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/ways-vote/apply-vote-post
The deadline for postal vote applications is 5pm on Monday 14 April.
Anyone unable to vote due to physical incapacity, are away from home due to work or study, or away on holiday on polling day, can get someone else to vote on their behalf at the polling station, known as a proxy vote.

Completed proxy vote applications must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April.
The key dates to remember are:
- Register to vote by midnight on Friday 11 April
- Register for a postal vote by 5pm, Monday 14 April
- Register for a proxy vote by 5pm, Wednesday 23 April
You need photo identification (ID) to vote at a polling station.
