Officers from Ottery St Mary and Exmouth responded to a male and paraglider wing stuck in a tree.
The experienced paraglider had taken off from White Cross on East Hill Strips, Ottery St Mary, when he was caught by a gust. The male was trapped around 30m from the ground in a dead tree. Other paragliders in the air were able to alert emergency services. Officers supported Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue in recovering the male who remained stuck for 90 minutes. He was recovered using an aerial platform from Exeter. Colleagues from South West Ambulance Hazardous Area Rescue Team were also in attendance. Inspector Mat Helm said it must have been very harrowing for the paraglider however he hung on in there and some great work by the fire service got him down safely.
