Police Appeal for witnesses following a Serious collision on the M5 on Friday

The collision occurred at around 2.25pm on Friday 12 July and affected both the northbound and southbound carriageways

Police are appealing for witnesses and any information following a serious road traffic collision on the M5 between Junction 28 and 29, near Exeter.

The collision occurred at around 2.25pm on Friday 12 July and affected both the northbound and southbound carriageways.

The collision involved a blue Vauxhall Astra, a black Skoda Octavia and a white Iveco Daily.

The occupants of the Skoda both sustained injuries. The 33-year-old male driver was airlifted by Air Ambulance to Derriford Hospital with injuries thought to be life-changing. A 50-year-old male passenger was taken to Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Vauxhall was checked over by paramedics at the scene but didn’t require hospital treatment. Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses that have not already spoken to them, but who may have seen the collision, or have dash camera footage, to contact police via 101 quoting Occurrence 50240172723.
