Police appeal for information following a serious collision on the M5 at Exeter

Police were called at around 9.40am on Sunday 10 August to the M5 southbound between junction 28 and 29 following a collision.

The collision involved a blue BMW 320 and a grey Skoda Karoq.

During the incident the BMW overturned and came to rest on its roof. The driver was taken to hospital with a serious injury, one of the passengers was also taken to hospital to be checked for minor injuries.

Occupants of both cars were checked over by paramedics at the scene.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall’s Roads Policing team conducted a detailed examination of the scene, which required the road to be closed for several hours.

We would like to thank members of the public for their understanding and patience.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision and have not spoken to police yet are asked to please make contact as soon as possible – in particular anyone with Dashcam footage or CCTV, are asked to contact them on 101 or via the police website quoting log number 284 10/08/2025.
