Emergency services were called to the railway near Cranbrook shortly before 7:00am this morning following a report from Network Rail of an incident in the area.
Officers from the Exeter Patrol Team, British Transport Police (BTP), Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, and the South West Ambulance Service Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) attended the scene.
The incident is currently being managed by Network Rail and British Transport Police.
We can confirm that no school children are involved.
As a result of the incident, Crannaford Level Crossing has been closed. We understand this has caused disruption to the school run, and we appreciate the public’s patience while a train remains stationary in the area.
