A proposed 20mph speed limit for Ottery St Mary's town centre and its surrounding roads has progressed further toward implementation.
Devon County Council has commenced a public consultation regarding the proposal, which will remain open until Wednesday, April 24th.
Local residents are encouraged to provide feedback endorsing the scheme, which has garnered support from Ottery Town Council and Jess Bailey, the county councillor representing the Otter Valley.
Cllr Bailey emphasized, "Communities throughout Devon are expressing a strong need for 20mph schemes, and DCC's program has received an overwhelming response. Ottery is among the few selected communities across Devon that have progressed to the consultation phase."
Devon County Council has provided comprehensive information regarding the roads identified for the introduction of the proposed speed limit on its website, along with an online consultation form.
The county council stated, "The proposal entails implementing a 20mph speed restriction on various roads in Ottery St Mary, with the aim of diminishing the likelihood of collisions and enhancing local amenities."
In addition, the proposal encompasses extending the current 30mph limit beyond the car park to Otter Garden Centre. This extension aims to enhance safety for vehicles accessing the car park and pedestrians walking along this stretch of road.
