Devon County Council and Devon and Cornwall Police are reminding road users that the experimental traffic orders in Heavitree and Whipton remain in place until formally revoked. The current restrictions still apply until signs and bollards are removed by the County Council.
The Exeter Highways and Traffic Orders Committee (HATOC) agreed on Monday (3 June) to suspend the Experimental Traffic Regulation Orders associated with Hamlin Lane, Whipton Lane and Vaughan Road as soon as is practicable, while those in Ladysmith Road/Park Road and St Marks Avenue will be withdrawn once the school summer term has finished.
Some of the planters may remain in place as they may act as traffic calming measures. Designs for this are being prepared and a safety audit is being carried out which is expected to take around a couple of weeks.
Devon and Cornwall Police and the County Council have been working together throughout the trial to ensure the safety of all highway users and local residents, and until the traffic orders are revoked and measures withdrawn, Police will continue to enforce the restrictions.
As soon as exact dates for the removal of measures are known they will be publicised.
