Next week, South West Water will be bringing its community roadshow to Budleigh Salterton to share the company’s planned investments and highlight its latest business plan with local customers and residents.
This is the eighth event in a series of community roadshows, which have so far seen South West Water visit Sidmouth, Torquay, Lynmouth, Falmouth, Christow, Plymouth and Exmouth. Making the Budleigh Salterton event on Tuesday next week (2 April) its eighth, with many more still on the horizon for 2024.
With a market-stall setup, the event is designed for customers to have the opportunity to talk to subject experts from South West Water about their focus areas, such as: environmental improvements, increasing drinking water resources and tackling network blockages.
The water company will be showcasing how its latest five-year business plan will include £2.8 billion of investment and create over 2,000 jobs across the region – pinpointing the specific investments planned for Budleigh Salterton and its surrounding area.
South West Water has already planned £2 million of investment in Budleigh Salterton to help further protect the beautiful local environment from the potential impact of the sewerage network if it becomes overwhelmed. This investment will further contribute towards maintaining Budleigh’s ‘excellent’ bathing water quality classification, as assessed by the Environment Agency.
The company is also exploring opportunities in the area for separating surface water from the sewerage system by 2025, helping reduce the volume of water in the network and help reduce the need for storm overflows to operate.
Laura Flowerdew, Chief Customer and Digital Officer at South West Water, said: “We care about what our customers think and feel about our investment plans and overall performance. It’s why we are creating these events; they are opportunities for locals and customers alike to come and talk to us face-to-face, voice their individual concerns and have their questions answered.
The team and I look forward to this next instalment of the roadshow and getting to meet the Budleigh Salterton community who want to learn more about the work we do.”
The Community Roadshow will take place from 12:30pm-16:30pm at the Venture Hall, Moor Lane, Budleigh Salterton, EX9 6QE, on Tuesday 2 April. Anyone looking to attend the event can pre-register here: Our roadshows | Get involved | South West Water
