Exeter City Council has awarded more than £17,000 to local organisations through the first round of the 2025/26 City Grants Programme.
The panel, made up of elected councillors and community advisors, met on 7 July to review 17 applications. Ten groups were selected to receive a share of £17,084, supporting a wide range of inclusive and creative projects across the city.
Among the beneficiaries was Exeter Otters Wheelchair Basketball Club, awarded the full £2,500 to continue hosting inclusive sports sessions. Home-Start Exeter also received £2,500 to run support groups for mothers experiencing isolation or poor mental health.
Inclusive Exeter was awarded £2,000 to deliver multicultural activity days across priority neighbourhoods. Other projects funded include community arts workshops, wellbeing events, and local heritage education.
This year’s fund has a total budget of £50,000, with the remaining £32,916 to be distributed in upcoming rounds. The second round opens on 27 August and closes at midday on 17 September.
Grants of up to £2,500 are available for community-led events, festivals, equipment or repairs. Applicants must show at least 20% match funding and demonstrate strong community support.
Priority is given to projects based in areas with the highest inequalities, including Exwick, Wonford, St Thomas, Newtown, and others.
