Topsham Ferry service stops for the Winter

One of Devon’s most picturesque passenger ferry crossings – the Topsham Ferry – is to close for the winter season.

The ferry, which operates across the River Exe, will open up again for six days during the Christmas holidays – from Boxing Day through to New Year’s Day, subject to weather conditions.

The Topsham Ferry runs between the landing in Ferry Road, Topsham, and the Topsham Lock on the western bank of the river, offering passengers an opportunity for a short trip across the water, taking in some stunning views of the river and its surrounds.

Topsham Ferry Coxswain John Kent thanked passengers for using the ferry over the summer and autumn and said: “The ferry is scheduled to start operating for the 2026 season the week before Easter and I look forward to seeing you all again.”
