Teignbridge residents who rely on heating oil to keep their homes warm are being urged to check if they can get financial help as the colder months approach.
The government-funded Crisis and Resilience Fund (CaRF), which is administered by Teignbridge District Council, can help eligible low-income households with the cost of heating oil.
Many households are facing rising heating oil prices due to the conflict in the Middle East. Unlike gas and electricity customers, households that use heating oil are not protected by the energy price cap.
Support is available to Teignbridge residents who are on a low income or receive means-tested benefits. The council will look at each household's needs. This includes difficulty paying heating bills, health conditions, disability, children living at home and whether the home is hard to heat.
Check if you can get help and apply on the council's Crisis and Resilience Fund webpage.
