A public consultation on the Exminster Neighbourhood Development Plan is now open, giving residents, businesses and stakeholders the opportunity to comment on proposals that will help shape the future of the parish.
The plan will guide development in Exminster over the next ten years. Once adopted, it will become part of the area's development plan and will be used alongside the Teignbridge Local Plan 2020-2040 when planning applications are considered.
Work on the plan began in summer 2023 and has been led by the Exminster Neighbourhood Development Plan Working Party. The plan reflects local views and priorities gathered through surveys, consultations and community engagement events.
Residents, businesses and organisations are encouraged to take part in the consultation to help ensure the final plan reflects the needs and priorities of the local community.
The plan and details of how to submit comments are available on the Council's website.
The six-week consultation closes on 11 November 2026.
Paper copies of the consultation documents will also be available during normal opening hours at:
- Coffee On The Corner cafe, Victory Hall Annexe, Main Road, Exminster EX6 8DF
- Teignbridge District Council, Forde House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot TQ12 4XX
Following the consultation, all comments received will be considered by an independent examiner, who will review the plan and may recommend modifications before it progresses to the next stage.
The final decision on whether the plan is adopted will be made by registered voters aged 18 or over in the parish through a referendum, which is expected to take place in early 2027.
