Car Fire Temporarily Closes A380, Believed to Be Accidental

Firefighters from Newton Abbot were called to a car fire on the A380 over the weekend, temporarily closing a section of the road.

Firefighters from Newton Abbot were called to a car fire on the A380 over the weekend, temporarily closing a section of the road.

Crews from Station 28, along with firefighters from Torquay, responded to reports of a vehicle fire on a slip road of the A380 on Sunday, February 2. The fire caused significant damage to the car’s engine compartment, though the rest of the vehicle remained unaffected.

The northbound carriageway of the South Devon Expressway was briefly closed but reopened around 3pm.

According to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, the fire is believed to have been accidental.
