Thieves have stolen donations intended for the Dawlish Pet Pantry, taking several boxes of pet food meant for local animals in need. The donations, worth around £18, were left at the Costcutter drop-off point on Saturday, February 8, but had disappeared by Sunday, February 9.
The generous donation of cat and dog food had been given by a local resident, but was taken sometime over the weekend, leaving volunteers at the charity devastated. Julie-Ann Marshall from Dawlish Pet Pantry commented, "This was devastating for us, as we rely on donations to support local pets in need."
The charity is still in need of food donations, as well as items such as dog and cat toys, coats, blankets, towels, and harnesses. "Thank you to Jo at Dawlish Costcutter for offering to move the donation box closer to the till," Marshall added. "Although donations have been taken before, this is the first time food donations have gone missing."
Dawlish Pet Pantry continues to rely on the support of the community to provide for local pets, and the theft has highlighted the importance of keeping donations safe.
