Footpath closed in Dawlish due to landslip

A section of path at Lee Mount, Dawlish has been closed due to fallen debris from the cliffs above

The sectioned closed is between the steps from Early’s Wall and the larger of the viewing shelters.

Previously, the Council have temporarily closed this section because of soil and vegetation debris which has fallen from the cliffs above, however recently fallen debris has included significant sized rocks, and overhanging sections now remain exposed which potentially could fall at some point.

Access from Marine Parade, Boat Cove, Early’s Wall and Coryton Cove to the cliff top park at Lee Mount can be made via the pedestrian footbridge over the railway and the main remaining path.

Barrier fencing with appropriate warning signage has been placed on the closed section and we would advise anyone walking in the area to avoid this section of the path.

They will be checking the site on a regular basis and will make a decision as to whether this will need to be a permanent closure in due course.
