From Wednesday, 1 October, summer restrictions on dogs on Teignbridge beaches will be lifted.
The area is lucky to have some beautiful beaches in the district, and the Council want to keep them clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.
Please remember to clean up after your dog, as it helps keep the beaches pleasant for all visitors and prevents the spread of diseases that can affect people and pets.
There are around 400 designated dog waste bins across Teignbridge, which are regularly emptied. If you find one that’s full, please report it to the Council and the cleansing team will take care of it. You can also dispose of dog waste in any general litter bin.
Heavy rainfall can temporarily affect water quality in local swimming areas and it is advisable to avoid swimming for at least 24 hours after heavy rain.
People have been urged to avoid the site of a dramatic landslide on the South Devon coast over fears more could follow. Witnesses heard a loud ‘crack’ as tonnes of soil, rocks and trees fell from cliffs at Shaldon Ness into the sea.
A ‘stunning’ central staircase will be the centrepiece of the transformed Newton Abbot Market Hall when it reopens in the coming weeks. The Grade II listed building has been closed since November 2024, with traders relocated nearby during redevelopment.
