Officers investigating a serious assault in Newton Abbot have charged a man.
Paul Toovey, aged 57, of Pomeroy Road, Newton Abbot, has been charged with two counts of Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
The charges relate to an incident which occurred near to The White Hart public house in East Street around 12.50am on Sunday 23 February.
A woman in her 40s and a man in his 50s sustained injuries and were taken to Torbay Hospital. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
Toovey appeared before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today, 24 February, and was remanded into custody. He will next appear at Plymouth Crown Court on 27 March.
